Fun, funky, charmingly eclectic and downright everything New Orleans down to the last detail is how I would describe the wedding of Grace and Christian … and every last detail was perfectly befitting these two French Quarter residents. To know these two for five minutes is to love them, and it does seem like the whole of New Orleans does know, and love the Captain and Gracie. Together they share an avid love of sailing, the written word, and in particular all things New Orleans, and every minute detail of their wedding was designed to incorporate the intricate weave of all of these loves in their lives. They contacted me about three months before their October 5 wedding, and even though the wedding was only a short time away there was still a lot of planning that needed to take place. Things fell into place very quickly and before long we were exchanging e-mails that contained timelines that rivaled military precision. Everything was under control …. except for the one thing every New Orleanian knows and understands cannot be controlled …. the weather. And along came hurricane Karen. Things got a little shifted here and there … well, OK, let’s just call it like it was … that timeline went out the window, and we all agreed to “just roll with it.” The wedding might take place in Armstrong Park as planned, or not. The reception was definitely moved from their French Quarter courtyard to an indoor venue, the Golden Feather, on Rampart Street. We might do a second line … or not, and so the day went. It was hot and humid, but the impending storm added a welcome bluster to the wind. A rather shortened version of the wedding did take place in Armstrong Park. The bride and her party arrived via pedi-cab parade, and she hopped out and walked down the aisle to meet her adoring groom through a cadre of New Orleans notables. Hurricane Karen made just a brief appearance during the ring exchange, at which point Chris Rose stepped in to hold an umbrella over the couple … now there’s a true New Orleans moment! The Treme Brass Band was waiting outside the gates of the park, and in spite of a few more raindrops, and lack of a police escort, they commenced with the second-line, leading the group through the French Quarter and onward to the reception festivities. In the end, it was a truly amazing day …. and according to the bride and groom, “Nothing went as planned …. but everything was perfect!”

millie williams - I read your story about having your camera and equipment stolen and I felt your anger and sadness. So, I was curious about your work.I am a beginner and I know how expensive this buisness or hobby can be. I looove your style of shooting. When I saw wedding, I thought,”Oh boy, booring”. What I found were wonderful, loving yet slightly whimsical pics that capture the style of New Orleans. Fun, yet very tender moments. I am so sorry about your lost images. You are phenominal.I only hope to be like you one day.
